A decision view connects exposure, payment behavior and action ownership.

Field notes / Playbooks / Analysis

A working library for better credit decisions.

This preview shows the first editorial roadmap. Full articles will be published progressively as the source library is reviewed.

01Playbook

Collections

From aging report to a collection strategy that teams can execute

A practical operating rhythm for segmenting debt, assigning actions and escalating without losing the commercial relationship.

02Field note

Credit risk

Credit limits should control exposure—not merely document it

How to connect limits, insurance, open orders and overdue behavior into one decision framework.

03Analysis

Performance

Why month-end overdue alone is not a fair measure of collection work

A closer look at amount, duration, dispute ownership and risk-adjusted performance indicators.

04Guide

Disputes

A dispute is not just a collection delay—it is a process signal

Separate commercial, contractual, quality and billing causes so the overdue owner and resolution path stay visible.

05Framework

Controls

Designing credit blocks around the moments that matter

A practical control map for order entry, induction, shipment and credit-limit exceptions.

06Analysis

Payment terms

When one invoice contains several commercial payment logics

Why accounting classification alone cannot solve mixed payment terms—and which contractual controls can.

Credit Dictionary

Clear definitions for the terms behind the decisions.

A practical reference—not a collection of textbook definitions. Each term is framed around how it affects risk, reporting, controls or collection work.

12 of 12 terms shown

01

Aging

AR control

A view of open receivables grouped by time since due date. Useful aging always preserves the customer, invoice, dispute and action context behind each bucket.

02

Cash application

Operations

The matching of received payments to invoices, credit notes or other open items. Unapplied cash can distort both overdue reporting and collection priorities.

03

Credit block

Risk control

A system or manual control that pauses a defined commercial step when exposure, overdue or contractual conditions exceed an approved threshold.

04

Credit limit

Risk control

The approved maximum exposure to a customer or group. A useful limit is monitored against invoices, open orders, work in progress and other committed exposure.

05

Dispute

Collections

A documented customer challenge that prevents normal collection. It should have a cause, financial value, internal owner, target resolution date and audit trail.

06

DSO

Performance

Days Sales Outstanding estimates how long revenue remains in receivables. It is valuable for trend analysis but should not be used alone to judge collection performance.

07

Exposure

Risk control

The amount economically at risk with a customer, including open receivables and—where relevant—unbilled work, orders, inventory commitments and guarantees.

08

Open AR

AR control

Receivable items not fully settled or cleared at a defined reporting date. The reporting cut-off must be fixed to make comparisons reliable.

09

Payment terms

Contract

The agreed trigger and period that determine when payment becomes due. Precise terms must distinguish invoice date, delivery, milestone and calendar conventions.

10

Promise to pay

Collections

A customer commitment to pay a defined amount on a defined date. It becomes useful management data only when tracked against the actual receipt.

11

Stop ship

Risk control

A control preventing release of goods or a serviceable unit until specified credit conditions are met. Its trigger, authority and exception path should be explicit.

12

Weighted overdue exposure

Performance

An analytical measure that weights overdue value by duration and, optionally, risk or action ownership. It is a management framework—not an accounting standard.
